The finals of the 3rd International Paralympics Swimming Training Camp and Races event, which is organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is held at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Cebeci Sports Complex.
The event is hosted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on behalf of Turkish Republic. 150 athletes, 25 coaches, academicians from 20 universities and some important names from the sports community from 16 countries; Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Belgium, Malta, Slovakia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Montenegro, Bosnia Herzegovina, Slovenia, Ireland, Romania, Czech Republic, Canada and Turkey, participated in the event.
The camp period started on November 2nd. During this stage, coaches and academicians made presentations and shared valuable information about the development processes of their athletes and the tests performed on them. The participants of the camp find the opportunity to present the experiences and skills they gained in this one week period, at the races stage of the program.
There was an exciting competition between the S1, S10 disability group paralympic swimmers, who race in butterfly stroke, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle categories. The event emphasized the unification of people and sportsmanship as well as the joy of winning a race. The excellent degrees achieved by the athletes and the enthusiasm of the participants were summarizing how beneficial the camp was.
The camp was also a preparation stage for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. On the final day of the event, medals and various prizes are given to the successful athletes and the participants.
Our athlete Muhammet Keskin, who is invited and participated in the event won the bronze medal in the 50m freestyle, silver medal in 100m freestyle, bronze medal in the 50m backstroke and another silver medal in the 100m breaststroke. Hence he gave the message that he is ready for the Paralympics Turkey Swimming Championship that will be held in Alanya, on December.
We congratulate our athlete Muhammet Keskin and his coach Şule Dalyan for the successful results they have accomplished on behalf of our club and we wish their success would continue in many other events.
